Discover the Ultimate in Boat and Yacht Care with Sea Shield

Hi, this is Francisco with Sea-Shield. We're doing a full restoration and ceramic coating application on the Northern Marine 86-foot build in 2006. So this paint is 10 years old.

How to Apply Ceramic Coating to Yacht Paint Gelcoat: First Step

One of our newest products that we're very excited about is called Sea-Shield medium cut. It is an amazing product. It really kind of picks it up from our compound into a polish and finishes that it has like a medium compound cut to it. So it really works. Well, with the newer paint, we can use it as a one-step surface that is in better shape. This, I can say, is ten years old. So it needs a little more cutting, so we're going to start with number two. We're not going to go on number one, but we'll do number two. Maybe two steps from number two Would you see how the surface reacts as you see it?

Second Step to Apply Ceramic Coating to Yacht Paint: Gelcoat

It's pretty oxidized, and it needs a lot of attention. Cotton polish number two comes in two different sizes. 16 ounces and What makes this product different is the buffing loop on it. So on the marine surface, when you're buffing the sun or you're both on really dry surfaces, Different car products, even some marine products, are sent to haze and to kind of stick to the surface by us developing this buffing loop and adding it to the compounds.

How Does Ceramic Coating on Yacht Paint Work?

Which allows us more working time to keep lubrication between the pad and the surface and prevention Burning the surface, you know a lot of times these pads run dry and they flash burn his paint. So it will be like a yellow spot and so on, so it's very important to have a buffing loop.

And we actually saw separate so you can mix it with your own compound but you know, of course, we have the right ratio and works really well with our number two and We use gallons squeeze it onto the ketchup bottle These guys have a big mouth so you can stick the gallon right in it So it's actually better in the sense that you're not making a big spill when you're filling it up So we'll put some small lines in the surface And We'll go ahead and Start with our kind of polish. So these are white wool pads then use the men prep and clean.

What is the Makita Variable Speed Polisher and how does it work?

Makita buffer variable speed we like  Three and a half settings: 1500 to 1800 p.m. So you start it slow; you know there's no numbers to it; you move it so much up and down; you start it slow, and I pick up the product. Spread it, and then you start with our Sea-Shield buffing.
